About this collection
Explore together
When the jug feels too heavy, just like Lavanta who says, "It's too heavy," and, when tired, "I'm going to rest for a bit," your child tries to notice and say when something feels heavy or tiring. They try to help with a task that matches their strength.
Your child draws a picture of a way they can help at home, like Lavanta's sail, or colors scene 4 (Lavanta folding the sail) with their own colors. While talking about their picture, they name their own strength by saying, "I can do this," or, "This is too heavy for me." For the hidden object activity in scene 5, they find the teapot, the bread basket, the bowls of olives, and the tomatoes; then, they count the chairs (five) and plates (four) and spot what is missing.
Talk together
1) What did Lavanta do when the jug felt too heavy? 2) Have you ever felt really tired? What do you say when you feel tired? Together: Fold a napkin into a triangle like a sail: "Fold, fold... Hop!" Count the people and the chairs at the table, and put a sail by each plate. After the meal, everyone picks a job that's just right for them; if someone gets tired, they say, "I'm tired, I'm going to rest for a bit."
