About this collection

Explore together

When the noise inside Lavender's head gets really loud, she tries to tell her sibling how she feels, takes a short break to breathe deeply, and says sorry after she calms down.

The child draws their own calm-down corner or colors scene 6 (Lavender breathing inside the tent). They add and talk about things in the picture that help them feel calm. For the hidden object game: find and count the wooden blocks, dolls, and crayons in scene 1; in scene 10, point out the sand timer and the moon-shaped night light.

Talk together

1) What did Lavender do when her head was full of noise? 2) Has your head ever felt noisy, too? What helps you feel better at those times? Together: Build your own calm-down corner at home with a blanket and two cushions. If you don’t have a sand timer, count to five together; breathe in and out slowly three times while you’re inside. Anyone can use the calm-down space—just remember the one rule: quiet time.
