About this collection
Explore together
Children build a kite for 23 April with Lokum and her friends, sharing the work, thinking about why the kite fell, listening to Babaanne's advice and trying again with their own decorations.
In the colouring pages, children colour the friends building the kite and the kite in the sky, giving each ribbon on the tail the colour its friend chose. In seek-and-find, they search the village square and the room with Babaanne's chest.
Talk together
1) Why did the kite fall the first time? What did Babaanne suggest? 2) What do you like making with a friend? How do you share the work? Together: Make a small kite or fan from a sheet of paper. Everyone adds a coloured paper strip to the tail. Try blowing it or letting it catch the breeze by a window; if it won't fly, make the tail longer and try again.
