About this collection
Explore together
The child realizes, along with Misket, that a shell can be a home for a living creature; instead of taking something they like, they try drawing a picture to remember it and then sharing the story with their family.
In the first coloring activity, the child colors Misket as she watches the crab without touching it; in the second, they color the family drawing together in the shade, and while coloring, the child shares what they want to remember in their own picture. In the easy hidden object game, they find the stone, the seagull feather, and the spiral shell that Misket puts in her pocket. At the medium level, on the sunset beach, they look for the crab and the stone and feather left in the sand, so the idea of “leaving things without taking them” gets practiced in the game.
Talk together
Who came out of the shell? Misket didn’t put the crab’s home in her pocket. What did she do instead? Together: Play the “Pocket Picture” game. On a walk or looking out the window, draw something you both like (a leaf, a bird, a cloud) without taking it from its place. Fold the paper small and put it in the child’s pocket. In the evening, have the child take out the drawing and share the story with the family.
