About this collection
Explore together
Through White Wing, children notice that when they are scared, they can ask for directions and accept help, and then trust their own wings by trying what they have learned despite their fear.
In the coloring pages, children color the mysterious forest where White Wing first lands in fear and the moment she is reunited with her mother; as they choose colors, they name the feelings in each scene (curiosity, fear, joy). In the hidden object games, children look carefully and find the clues one by one, just as White Wing finds her way through the forest; the lost feather in the first scene recalls her journey home. Asking an adult for a hint when they get stuck repeats the story's "asking for directions" behavior in play.
Talk together
1. Why couldn't White Wing fly at first, and what finally gave her the courage to fly? 2. Have you ever been scared of something at first and then tried it anyway? How did you feel while trying?
