Explore together
When a stormy evening brings a power cut, children discover with Tıkır and his family what you can do without screens: making shadow play from torchlight, cutting cardboard puppets and putting on a family show.
In the colouring pages, children colour the screen being set up and the "shadow robot" on the sheet, and choose a shape for their own shadow puppet. In seek-and-find, they search the rainy-evening dinner table and the living room when the lights come back.
Talk together
1) What did Tıkır notice when the power went off? What did Hikmet Dede remember? 2) What does your family like doing most when there are no screens?
Together: In the evening, dim the lights and shine a torch on a wall or a stretched sheet. Make bird, dog or rabbit shadows with your hands, cut out a few cardboard puppets and act out a short story. Always use a torch, never a candle.
