Mercan went to the seaside with family. A small shell lay on the sand, covered in fine curves. “May I put it in my pocket?” the kitten asked. Mum bent down and suggested looking together first.

They noticed a tiny movement nearby. Could something be living inside? Mercan drew a hand back. “When we are unsure, we can leave it where it is,” Mum said. They watched without turning or touching the shell.

Mercan wanted a memory to take home, then remembered the sketchbook. “Could its picture come with me?” the kitten asked. In the shade, Mercan drew the curves using little lines of their own.

Dad pointed to a distant wave. Mercan drew it beside the shell. A sibling added footprints in the sand. The picture was not the real shell, but their different discoveries were gathering on one page.

Before leaving, they looked toward the shell once more. Mercan waved. They had taken no sand or living things. The sketchbook held curved lines, and the kitten remembered the sea’s sound and the family’s laughter.

At home, Mercan displayed the drawing. “The sea is in my memory, not my pocket,” the kitten said. A sibling added a sun while listening to the story. Their memory page grew a little larger.
