Boncuk brought a big ball to the garden. Friends ran across the grass. Ece, a rabbit, sat by the fence with a book. Boncuk waved. “Come and play!” the puppy called. Ece smiled but stayed on the bench.

Boncuk called again. “I do not want to run right now,” Ece said. The puppy was surprised. The ball game seemed so exciting. Boncuk went to Mum and asked why the friend would not join.

“What did Ece tell you?” Mum asked. Boncuk thought. “That running did not feel right now.” The puppy remembered tired days too. Perhaps friends did not need to choose the same game at the same time.

Boncuk returned to the bench. “May I sit here for a while?” Ece moved over. The book showed leaves of different shapes. Boncuk pointed to a fallen leaf. “Shall we find one like that?” the puppy asked.

They gathered fallen leaves and arranged them on a cloth. Ece chose a pointed leaf; Boncuk chose a round one. The ball players came to look. Some joined them, while others stayed with the ball.

On the way home, Boncuk told Mum about two lovely games. “Listening to Ece helped us find a new one,” the puppy said. Tomorrow Boncuk would bring both the ball and the cloth, so friends could choose.
